What is better the elliptical or treadmill when it comes to getting in shape for running?

Elliptical seems a lot easier, I only do it because after i’m done running on the treadmill my left knee kills. I also burn a lot more calories on the elliptical. I enjoy running and I have to get used to it because I am leaving for bootcamp at the end of this upcoming summer.

My gym and it doesnt hurt my gym and it doesnt hurt my knees at basic training youll be doing more.
