What can you do while walking on a treadmill?
Sam asked:
I’m thinking about getting treadmill and I’m wondering what is possible to do while walking? It is possible to read a book? Can you use a laptop/computer if it was mounted in the right place or is the motion of walking too much to work with? I’m sure it’s possible to watch tv while walking but I’m interested in knowing if anyone has experience doing anything like reading or using a laptop.

watch tv lol
I can read, some people can’t. Do you get motion sickness? I don’t know about a laptop. Might be a little too bouncy to be very productive. You can also watch TV or just listen to music and chill out.
you can read, and id imagine if you got one with a good rest to prop up a laptop, that could work, and just make sure the treadmill doesnt make too much movement so as not to shake it off
Whenever I go to the gym to use the treadmill, I bring my iPod and listen to music the whole time. For me, that is enough. At my gym they also have TV screens set up in front of each treadmill, with an outlet where you can plug in your headphones and a remote strapped to the handle of the treadmill so you can watch TV instead. I have seen women read books while walking/jogging on the treadmill, but I personally don’t have the coordination for that. x) Whatever works for you!
I listen to my ipod
As a treadmill runner,
Reading and using laptop while walking are impossible for me b/c it makes me dizzy. I dont know if you can do that because everyone is diff. The best solution is to watch TV as you said.

Get a “book on tape” and load it onto an mp3 player.
I normally watch TV, or if you are only walking, you can get a laptop stand and mount it to the front of the treadmill. I recommend not doing other activities while running or using the incline on a treadmill.. that might lead to a bit of a disaster.. Good luck! ?
Buy some weights and work your arms while walking.
You can certainly do all of those things while you are working out on a treadmill. What it depends on is how much effort are you going to put into the workout. If you are walking, or going slow, your body wont be bouncing around so you wont get motion sickness. The faster you go or the harder you work out , the greater the chances that you are going to get motion sickness. I suggest going to a gym first and try running on a treadmill while reading a magazine and see how you react.
I would recommend you check out, it is a Treadmill and Elliptical Site that takes all the online reviews for Treadmills and Ellipticals, combines them on their site and comes up with their own average rating. You can also see side by side comparisons, and the current pricing for the different Treadmills out there.
