Is the calorie counter on treadmills accurate?

I read in a magazine that the actual number of calories you burn on a treadmill is 10% less than it says on the readout on the treadmill. I know everyone burns calories at different rates… I’m about 5’7” and 125 lbs.

It is not as accurate as claimed. It is a rough average. But showing numbers higher than you are actually burning makes you feel good!
