How much incline on a treadmill?

I’ve heard that running upwards like on a hill or inclined treadmill will increase a person’s run speed. I’ve been thinking of using a treadmill and cranking that incline to the highest it will go to try to increase my run speed, does this sound okay/safe? Or should I just run up a hill several times?

Little bit different/harder on treadmill than doing it outdoors on hill. I’ve found that the best way is picking a hill that is about 50-100 yards, and as steep as possible. Do around 6-10 sprints up that hill at 95%. Then after each sprint up just jog back down at easy pace and repeat again when get back to bottom.
